He was arrested by State Police and is being investigated for possibly involvement in the murder of a island resident in December. The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that Manuel “N” was detained on allegations of concealment but his charges were reclassified to homicide.

Cozumel, Q.R. — A Cozumel man picked up for disobedience has been admitted to the island’s penitentiary on possible murder charges. Manuel “R”, who goes by the alias of Zombi and/or Negro, was arrested Tuesday by State Police.
After his arrest, authorities began an investigation into his possible involvement in the murder of a island resident in December. According to Cozumel sources, Manuel “R” is a former municipal police officer.
His time as an active officer dates back around 10 years, however, he is reported to be connected with a local criminal group involved primarily in narcotics.
On Wednesday, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) issued a brief statement reporting that “Manuel “N” was detained Tuesday on allegations of concealment, however on Wednesday, his charges were reclassified to homicide.”
The SSC has not provided additional details regarding the updated charges.
