Many Brits consider cruises to be a luxury option for a holiday considering the high price for a cabin and food all week as you sail between destinations – but there are some bargain cruises in the world.

One low-cost cruise might just boggle your mind with how affordable it is as the Margaritaville at Sea cruise, which departs from two locations in Florida in the United States, costs from just £21.46 per person per night. The incredibly cheap cruise doesn't stop at low quality ports either – heading out from Palm Beach on a two night cruise you'll head over to the glorious Bahamas in the Caribbean.

The ship, on it's cheapest itinerary costing $55 for two nights based on double occupancy (£42.93), stops at Freeport, the main city on the island of Grand Bahama which is known for it's powder-white sand and bright blue water which rivals the Maldives. You'll sail from Florida, stop overnight on the pretty island and then sail back to disembark that night.

There are longer itineraries on offer from Margharitaville at Sea which include stops in Cozumel, Mexico, famed for its snorkelling, and Progreso, a port city in the Yucatán, Mexico, with gorgeous restaurants, lighthouses and a promenade. The ship itself has a spa, fitness centre, casino, pools and hot tubs as well as a Kids' Club. Plus, restaurants and bars offering food and booze.

You can enjoy wine tasting sessions, cocktail classes, game shows, bingo and karaoke. Plus, there are buffets, burger shacks, table service restaurants and pizzerias as well as coffee shops and even a steak house on board.

What more could you want from a bargain priced cruise? Well, despite the tiny price of a cabin on board the reviews of this bargain cruise are mixed. While some say the cruise is a great bargain others found some aspects unsatisfactory.

On TripAdvisor, one person said: "I feel you get what you pay for. It’s a cheap cruise, so lower your expectations. The crew was great. Room was clean and decent. The island excursion was by far the best part. The port was terrible. Getting on took way longer than it was supposed to. We were held back by hours to get on. Packed like little sardines in a room."

While another person added: "My friends and I had a grand time. The cruise met our expectations for the price. We love food and I must say the food was pretty decent. Our linens/beds were really clean and the service was great. The shower is a very small space, but is sufficient to jump in and out. I would certainly go again for a quick get away. I’m pretty picky and I was pleasantly surprised I think."

A third noted: "Is it a smaller ship? Yes, but we didn't mind, it was easier to explore. We did not get bored, there was always something fun going on. There is a theatre with different acts... comedy, concert... there is a piano sing along, live entertainment throughout the ship. There is also a casino onboard. Loved it!!"

Some holidaymakers complained that the food was "awful" while others said it was good for the price. Others also said there were "backed up toilets" on the ship.

However, the crew was often complimented and one man said it was "the most bang for your buck". So if you want to experience a cruise, but can't afford to shell out thousands on top of flights, it could be a great bargain option to see the Caribbean!

Skyscanner puts the cost of flights from the UK to Florida from just £242 for a return with Norse Atlantic Airlines. While some Florida airports are more expensive than others if you manage to get a bargain then the Margaritaville cruise could be a good, cheap, way to have a tropical holiday this year.
